ABOUT ME

My name is Mikhail Lavrenov and my internet nickname MikLav is just a short form of it.

I am a part time freelance photographer located in Leuven, Belgium. I am mainly focusing on stock work, however doing assigments too. I photograph landscape and nature, I make industrial pictures, I photograph people in a studio and sometimes still objects. What I am not doing and not interested is news/reportage photography; and I am not doing macro pictures.

The town where I live (Leuven) is a nice old Belgian university town in about 30 km east of Brussels.

This site is my photography portfolio and a personal web design project.

I've been involved with photography since my childhood i.e. over 20 years. Starting with a rangefinder and then a mechanical SLR camera; then automatic SLR and finally moved to a digital SLR. Photography used to be my hobby for a long time and turned to a part-time job a few years ago.

I have participated in several photography contests and have won the 1st prize a few times. Some of my work was exhibited with photography club exhibitions.

I started selling stock photos since 2005. I am doing assignment work too although not much. Focusing on stock photography allows me to remain the owner of my time which is usually impossible for photographers fully focused on assignment work.
